Power: The Mythology, History and Predictions

Its all coming full circle now, I see where its all leading to. These characters are becoming new people, who their going to be when the show ends. The break up and fall of the Patrick dynasty. I envision Tariq will inherit Ghost’s drug business, and possibly become the man who his father wanted to be…legit, or Tariq will be the biggest goddamn drug dealer in NYC.

Similar to how the series Vikings introduced the next generation, Power may do the same. Look to the past; Ghost’s dad was a drunk who briefly owned a club, and lost it. Ghost reached heights his father didn’t, but struggles to escape the drug life. It might be this tragedy will end at the third generation with Tariq achieving what grandfather and father desired: legit businessman with an empire of legit businesses.

If Tasha goes to jail next season its like the season 4 plot all over again, repetitive. But history repeats itself, and the writers of the show embrace that philosophy. The actions, executions, and consequences of Tasha’s storyline in season five will be a different than what Ghost experienced in prison. The writers are brilliant. Either Tasha gets off or pulls a Cookie doing twenty years. Ghost becomes a single father with a redemption story between him and Tariq next season. With Tasha in jail Ghost is going to have to really step it up. Honestly, this fool might ended up hiring some Latina nanny and banging her, after all that is his type. He was with Angela and eyed Queen Jimenez with lust.

As a father, this fool can’t be running the streets, especially after everything your only son has been through. I mean is Angie gonna adopt Yasmin, anything is possible. Everything is up in the air.

We saw how great Kanan and Ghost work together, and that sequence will definitely be explored further next year with the inclusion of Tommy. Meaning we’re being treated to a family reunion. I do wonder will there be conflicts in the family because Kanan did almost destroy Ghost’s distribution network in the first season. Kanan did set up Ghost to kill Rolla, but hey even Rolla said “It was Kanan right, you and that nigga still cool after all these years.”

Ghost replied “he’s my friend.”

Rolla shot back with “I’m your friend.”

We know Kanan killed his own son, and we know that Ghost’s knows Kanan’s son was sleeping with Tasha. And Ghost don’t give a fuck about no one but himself, so it we ain’t got no reason worry. All the arguments between Ghost and Tommy, and they still tighter than a pair of balls. Now we got Kanan in the mix. These guys are more than friends, they are brothers.

The influence Kanan has over Tariq can definitely come in handy next season with Tasha gone. Kanan is in the position be a kingpin too. They destroy Dre, K and Tommy Toms will be the new connect. This where the dynasty theory comes in. Ghost finally gets out the game, hell he could move back to Queens and run against Tate in a political election in season six. Ghost running politics, K and Tom selling dope all over the city, and Tariq ruling as the prince. Its a dynasty and Tariq inherits both worlds. Now I see that though show is not about two brothers, but three. It is about brotherhood. Tariq is a brother and failed to protect Raina.

I love how Dre is gonna be the villain next season. I am a little confused though if Three Brothers are planning to wipe out the Jimenez too? They might go after Crystobal first. Killing him further complicates Dre’s conquest. Crystobal and his Tainos have been Dre’s key ally this season. Through them Dre contracted the Torros Locos to kill Julio, and in the finale Ghost killed the leader of the Torros who confessed to killing Julio and Dre’s involvement putting Tommy on alert. Now he’s out for blood. Dre has really thrown himself into the fire: betraying Tommy, trying to kill Kanan, and now Tariq sold him out to Ghost. Tariq told Ghost it was Dre who told him where Ray-Ray was hiding, before that Ghost didn’t have a problem with Dre at all. I’m assuming Dre’s association with the man who killed his daughter makes him guilty and that’s why Ghost is teaming up with his brothers.

Truth is though the backstory to Raina’s death goes back 10 years when Ghost sent Kanan to jail. Kanan gets out goes after Ghost, recruits the man’s own son, and in the process Tariq is introduced to Jukebox and Ray-Ray. Had Ghost never betrayed Kanan Raina would still be alive. True story.

Back to Dre, I wonder where this plot will take us. Does Dre die, go to jail, or make it out alive and at the top. But how do they keep the Brothers on the show with Dre running shit at the top? Is a truce made which divides the kingdom into two? I can see it happening. My reasons for this theory has to do with Dre’s development as a character. He has come a long way; from Kanan’s bitch to Ghost’s general manager, to distro, and finally to position of connect. And I feel like there is still more pages to fill in the Book of Dre. Power has three seasons left, I said in an earlier essay that the ending of season four sets up the third and final act for the series, so that means with Dre becoming a big villain next year he has a huge part to play in the wars to come. Furthermore, the actor is signed to G-unit Records and is close to 50 Cent. This is 50’s show as much as its principal showrunner, Courtney Kemp.

Dre reminds me of Vincent Mancini/Corleone from the Godfather Part III. He’s cold, ruthless, deceitful, and ambitious. But Vincent’s character was never explored beyond Part III as Mario Puzo intended with a fourth and final film. Not saying the same will happen with Dre, but this guy has been in the mix since season two. I feel like there is an importance to him.

Funny thing about Dre is his persuasion in getting others to do his dirty work for him. However, the boy is deadly with a blade. He killed pink sneakers and Father Callahan with a knife.

This essay was the discussion of the mythology and history gathered in my own observation of the series throughout its run complete with predictions and other theories. Unfortunately, I have concluded more questions than answers. In the near future it is possible I will follow up this essay because I do wanna explore it further. Call it a foundation. Power airs Sundays at 9pm on Starz, catch up with the series via the Starz app or on Hulu.

“They ain’t see shit, we ain’t say shit, so it ain’t shit” – Tommy and Tasha, Power.

Today marks my bestest friend’s birthday, the big 21! In my book Julia is the champion of best friend’s, on a personal level that is because I have gone through so many close friends. Those “friends” can’t even compare, in short she is the best friend I have always wanted.

This past month has been full of the days I continually prayed for, where she is living her dreams and basking in endless happiness. Needless to say this woman has never done nothing that DID NOT exceeded my expectations. I have always been left stunned, amazed, and outwitted by her resilience, dedication, honesty, and above all else her ambition. She can be cold and ruthless, but I love her all the same. Julia Walton is a conqueror, natural born leader, hustler, and renegade! #facts 100%

We share a variety of different values, beliefs, and morals, but just as much common traits. Like any true friendship we have had up and downs, trials, and tribulations but remain close. The one thing that’s never really been a problem is the distance, we live hours away and remain as close as two peas in a pod. We inspire each other. We are partners in crime. I pray that in 50 years we are still just as close, sipping margaritas in the old folks home hahaha

I say embrace your inner basicness because you only get one great, basic white girl in your lifetime. Julia’s traits has become mine, I have adopted many things from her such as, coffee, veganism, health, exercise, Vlogging, candle shopping, and much more! I wouldn’t trade any of the experiences she has given me, being her best friend is the greatest gift this universe has offered me. I embrace it.
